The Institute’s collaborative working groups and councils bring together members with specialized expertise to help shape a more informed, innovative, and sustainable future for the transportation and energy sectors. Through focused forums such as the Carbon Council, Global Advisory Council, Renewable Fuels Council, and Retail‑to‑Vehicle Integration Working Group, participants share knowledge, explore emerging trends, and guide the Institute’s efforts across critical areas—from carbon emissions reduction and global market insights to renewable fuel innovation and the integration of new vehicle technologies with retail infrastructure. Collectively, these groups provide a platform for strategic dialogue and thought leadership that strengthens the industry’s ability to navigate rapid change and unlock new opportunities.
The Electric Vehicle Council, formed by the Transportation Energy Institute, serves as a collaborative hub for the many organizations engaged in advancing EV charging infrastructure across the country. By bringing these stakeholders together, the Council fosters the exchange of insights, lessons learned, and best practices related to the deployment and operation of charging stations. In addition to facilitating dialogue, the Council drives original research and educational initiatives to address knowledge gaps and equip stakeholders with a deeper understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and proven strategies that shape effective EV infrastructure development. Through this collective effort, the Electric Vehicle Council strengthens the industry’s capacity to support a reliable, accessible, and informed transition to electric mobility.
The Medium and Heavy-Duty Committee provides a dedicated forum for Transportation Energy Institute contributors working in the commercial vehicle sector to collaboratively explore the unique challenges of decarbonizing medium- and heavy-duty fleets. Leveraging the Institute’s long standing reputation for objective, non‑advocacy research, the Committee brings stakeholders together to discuss emerging needs, identify knowledge gaps, and recommend targeted research projects to the Board of Advisors. Recognizing that the path to decarbonization differs significantly from light‑duty vehicles, the Committee hosts its own meetings and communications to drive focused dialogue and shape credible, industry‑informed research. Participation is open to all Institute contributors at no additional cost.
This Council is for members who are specifically interested in carbon emissions-related topics to share perspectives and knowledge and help guide the Institute’s work in this area. The Council works on emissions reduction strategies, carbon accounting and reporting, and value of carbon.
This Council addresses members who are specifically interested and knowledgeable regarding the influence of global trends on the evolution of the transportation sector. While TEI will continue to focus on North America, the Council provides a venue to share experiences and perspectives from global markets and those that are interconnected throughout the world.
This Committee relates to members who are specifically interested in biofuels and other renewable fuel products to help guide the Institute’s work in this area. This Committee works to educate stakeholders about the benefits, economic opportunities, and challenges associated with low-carbon fuel products.
This Working Group brings together members who are specifically interested in the technological innovations being presented with new vehicles that affect the consumers’ shopping behavior to explore opportunities to connect that technology with the built physical infrastructure that delivers energy for vehicles and drivers.
