Notes From John’s Desk – Why the Conflict Over Biofuels?

There have been a few recent reports and studies that have “concluded” that biofuels are bad for the environment, with some headlines declaring much more extreme conclusions. These made me scratch my head – the Transportation Energy Institute has published several peer reviewed studies that found significant environmental and economic benefits associated with biofuels. Why this conflict?

In this article, I don’t get into a comparison of our research with these new reports because I believe the peer review process we employ at TEI ensures our research is fact-based and unbiased, and I trust our Board to make sure we don’t publish something that supports an agenda. So I took some time to extract and summarize some key findings from our research, and my memory of our research seems pretty accurate.

Take a look and remember to always question what just doesn’t quite make sense.
